"The Twin Tunnels of Downingtown, Pennsylvania" (Chris Chaos/Axis Video)

by Chris Chaos
The two tunnels away from the road

Many legends, along with truth and mystery, have cursed this desolate location. These tunnels, also known as the Downingtown Tunnels, are home to various suicides, an unsolved murder and a popular teen hangout.

Within the middle tunnel

The tunnels are along Valley Creek Road, which runs along Valley Creek. The narrow road is a journey of twists and turns around every corner. They are located right outside of Downingtown, PA. Railroad tracks cross over the tunnels, which contain three tunnels, not two as the name implies.

THE CREEPY DOLL HOUSE: Mount Ephraim, NJ

by Chris Chaos

This green house is located on Kings Highway in Mount Ephraim NJ has been historically dubbed as "creepy". Why you ask? Well for one this house has all its front windows lined with dull eyed porcelain dolls. The other fact is that no matter what time you drive past this house you will NEVER see a person outside nor do you ever see a light on at night time. Who lives here? How come you never see a light on or a sign of a person on the property? And most importantly, what is going on with all the dolls??? We can only speculate (based on info pulled from the tax records and Zillow) that an older couple or widow lives here.

UPDATE: Recently the house has been painted white, the dolls have been removed and the house is up for sale. We can only make assumptions as to what happened to the dolls and the previous owner(s).

But why speculate when we can find hard data through real estate transactions, tax records and death certificates. For privacy reasons I will leave out the previous and current owners info but public record states that the previous owner (1919 - 2011) passed in 2011 and the house was sold in 2012 to a new owner.

UPDATE: 7-17-14 We drove past fabled location last week and noticed that The Creepy Doll House of Mount Ephraim was painted/remodeled for a third time.

Pulled from Zillow:

DATE EVENT PRICE
12/06/12 Sold $99,900
04/11/74 Sold $33,000

THE WITCHES WELL AND HOLY HOLY HOLY ALTAR (Updated July 4th, 2014)

by Chris Chaos

July 4th, 2014

This trip was a long time coming, for about 2 months we kept making plans to go back for the update but weather and circumstance kept getting in the way. But on this 4th of July during Hurricane Arthur we experienced a cool down with the temperature so we decided to go.

We pulled up the Prospect street, a hidden little road nestled next to THE MOUNT in Mount Holly, New Jersey. All looked the same at the onset, but we did notice quite a few of the larger older trees have collapsed. We entered the trail and we see they did make it a bit more accessible by adding wood beams every few feet to help with footing. Some of the trails were a bit more wide also.

 SL748013

The WITCHES WELL was to the left of us and up a hill, it appeared that they put up a more heavy duty fence along with more security cameras. More on this shortly.

We continued up the path a few more feet and saw more trees that fell over. The main path that leads to the HOLY HOLY HOLY ALTAR also had a few wooden beams inserted to help in the climb. About halfway up I saw what appeared to be a white dog laying off to the side..upon approach I saw that it was actually a goat....about 20 of them behind an electrified fence! Bonus! They were there to clean up some of the rogue vegetation that is
present on THE MOUNT. The coolest one was the solid black horned goat.

Passing the goats a few more feet we came upon The Altar where in previous times many supposed witches met their doom by hanging. The Judgment Table is still there but the only the base of the pole that was used to hang the witches remains. On my 1st visit here most of the pole still stood. About a year ago they added the benches here in an attempt to make the location a little more family friendly and to take away some of the mystic that has been associated with these grounds. I noted that sex magik rituals still take place here due to the paraphernalia behind the Altar along with condom wrappers.

Proceeding up THE MOUNT we came across the 2 Geodetic survey sites on top that are positioned all across the USA to measure earth quakes and tectonic plate movement. One of the 1st settlers of Mount Holly also used to have a house up here. Many of the bricks and masonry rubble can still be found spread out across the land here.

Venturing down THE MOUNT we passed The Holy Holy Holy Altar again and preceded to the Mount Holly Cemetery which has a tribute site to a witch that could not be buried within the property of the cemetery. Sadly many vandals destroyed the gifts left here and they could be found smashed and scattered all over the grounds.

After visiting the Witch Tribute site we headed back to the beginning and ventured up the huge hill to the left of THE MOUNT. At the top of the hill is a big barb wired fence with several security cameras that take photos of anyone attempting to vandalize or trespass onto the property were THE WITCHES WELL is. There are quite a few legends associated with this location, but 2 stand out. The 1st is that a witch was thrown down the well but did not die, instead she lived for a few days and cursed the land. The townspeople then built the brick building over the well in an attempt to seal her in. Legend states that if you knock on the huge metal door you will hear 3 knocks come right back at you from the witch. The 2nd legend is that a witch summoned the Jersey Devil and then he killed her, then the Jersey Devil was cast in the well and the brick structure built over him.

Ghost Girl Photo, Texas (Sept 2012)

 by Chris Chaos

This is a cellphone photo snapped in someone's bedroom. At 1st glance the photo appears to have a blurred image of a girl floating in the room. The lady that sent me this photo states that her brother took this photo and it has been unaltered from the original. She also stated that her brother is not tech savvy and has no access to photoshop or other photo editing programs.

I asked her what she thinks is in the photo and this is what she stated, "I KNOW its a demon, dressing up as a little girl to seem harmless & arouse curiosity, to get it to "engage" someone to reek havoc." She also stated that there were many changes in the house (remodeling) which has stirred up activity and that the "main source of food" for this demon was her spouse, but he is no longer in this particular house.
 Ghost
The house is owned by a family member (of this fore mentioned lady) and the last time she stayed in her childhood room and slept in her own bed she heard the demon whispering to her as she slept and that apparently triggered something, because that is what kicked off all the really weird events.

The house itself is known by all the locals in town to be "possessed", some people in town refuse to drive near the house due to the bad feelings that they get.

The back story prior to when this photo was taken....The ladies brother was trying to sleep and could not, and because he also feels that the house is possessed he started sprinkling Holy Water and asking for the demon to get out and leave the family alone. He then proceeds to take several pics with his camera phone and nothing happens until this photo was taken. She also stated that this demon has appeared in the past in both a dragon and snake form.

Upon receiving this photo by email I was very skeptical of the image and it just didn't look legitimate. I loaded the photo into several photo editing programs to look for any evidence of tampering and here are the findings:

I did not immediately see any evidence of tampering once I zoomed in and added different filters. So if someone did Photoshop this image, it was just a simple copy and paste one layer on top of the backdrop. There are some free apps (for cell phones) that are readily available that you can add images to existing photos and this one of the ghost girl appears to be just that.

One of the things that bothers me about the pic is the photo is taken looking up at an angle, as if the photographer is sitting down, but the figure is just about perfectly facing the camera but with the head slightly turned, look at the shoulders. Kind of odd that the figure is just TOO perfectly facing the camera. So that would mean that the ghost girl in the photo would be up higher than the photographer and angled looking down. You can also see that the ghost girl is transparent.

While inspecting the photo in detail using the photo editing programs: when you zoom into the fan blade and edge of the mirror they are pretty sharp in resolution and contrast, but the object that appears to be a girl is very soft and blurred. Now I know that many conceptions pertaining to ghosts are that they are misty and transparent. I do not believe this to be the case since in theory a ghost would never be able to take on the physical form of a human, scientifically speaking a ghost would be unused matter and take on the form and have the traits of wind, electricity or some other naturally occurring form of energy. Many people that enjoy the paranormal but are not scientifically minded seem to forget the laws of science and try to give spirits human traits. They also have a tendency to explain something that is unknown with something else that might be unknown when in most circumstances with a little experimentation and determination, the answer can logically be explained. If you are looking for a ghost, you will find a ghost, if you are looking for an alien, then you will find an alien, you usually find what you are looking for, or so your mind will tell you so.

So with all the information provided and research conducted I would have to say that logically the ghost girl in the photo was added by someone and is not an apparition.

9-25-2014 UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE:
I received an update from the person that originally supplied me with the photo and the story…After this article went live and she read it, she contacted me with the following update:

“So months AFTER the fact, maybe even like a year? My brother in law admitted it was an app he used. He used the app to take the pic and scare his wife from ever going to my in-laws house….btw, at the time he was a strung out meth-head; if that helps at all. SMH Sorry I wasted your time with this photo. However the house IS over-run with demons & that bedroom as well as the one next to it are still the hotspot of activity. Also, my inlaws confirmed that shortly AFTER this “fake” photo…they (my in laws) were seeing “ghosts” roaming thru the house, mostly in the dining room/kitchen/spare room areas & that they would flick the lights and other such “ghostly” things. Johnny (my BIL) is a flake &either a current or recovering meth head. When they sent this to me – I thought he had been clean for quite some time; but I later found out (around the same time I found out the photo was fake) that the reason he moved back home instead of living with his wife, was because he was strung out. NOW, being strung out on meth & seeing ACTUAL demons is a whole other story – because THAT SHIT HAPPENS.”

Lambertville High School: Lambertville, New Jersey

By Chris Chaos

Out of all the locations that we have visited this one seemed to have the most mystery and hype behind it.

Lambertville High School was built in 1854 in Lambertville, New Jersey. A fire destroyed much of the school in 1926, but it was remodeled and rebuilt in 1927 and used until June 1959. Since then it has sat abandoned and vandalized ever since. During the 50's and 60's many "smaller" schools became obsolete and were replaced with regional schools to accommodate larger classes. After it closed as a school it sat unused for about 30 years until vandals set fire to it destroying much of the property.

There are many stories of hauntings and paranormal occurrences at this location,
but to date no recorded murders or anything of the sort occurred at Lambertville.
Although neither were true some of the tales and legends revolved around students dying in the fire or the Buckeye football player that died on the field. Many visitors to the location also added to the mystic by writing random messages on the famous blackboard and stating the ghosts wrote them.

When we visited this location it was in bad shape, debris was everywhere. The most disturbing thing we saw was the abandoned car seat (which reminded us of the one at Boody Mill Road) in the woods several feet from the building itself. The stone sign for the school was still near the door where we stopped to pose for pics. Graffiti littered the walls of the school and evidence of vandals and partying were in every room. We feared for the integrity of the structure and hoped that we didn't fall through the crumbling floors. On the roof there were trees actually growing out of the floors.

UPDATE: In the Fall of 2012, the High School was demolished.

The structure was knocked down in one day, "which shows you how bad it was," city construction official Ken Rogers said today.

"It's really good timing," said Mayor David DelVecchio. "Now we don't have to worry about it for Halloween."

Officials state that the hill will be regraded and soil conservation will be required to keep the ground stable. No word of what may occupy the land in the future.

The Witches Well: Jersey Devil Mount Holly NJ

by Chris Chaos

Does the Witches Well hold the Jersey Devil? There was a legend that the Jersey Devil is sealed inside a stone altar on top of a mountain. This mountain is known as THE MOUNT in Mount Holly New Jersey.
Legend has it that the Jersey Devil was chained up here and if you put your ear up to the metal door you can hear him thrashing around. Another legend was that this site was the capstone that went all the way to Hell.

Yet another legend goes that one of the 1st (suspected) witches in the area was thrown down this well and she survived the drop and clawed and screamed for help and cursed all those that threw her into the well. Later on the shed was built over the Well to stop the haunting that was occurring. Recently the township put up a barbwire fence with stop motion cameras that actually yell at you when triggered. "Stop! You have been caught on camera and this will be used in your prosecution, turn around now!" it states when you venture too close. Why would they spend all this money for this security? What is really here? Without breaking the law and jumping the fence you currently cannot reach The Witches Well, but you can see it through the fence that was erected. If you go in the warm months be aware of the mosquitoes, they are plentiful and very hungry.
SL741523
There is also a gravestone located in the cemetery right near this area and a woman is buried there. The grave reads: "Thus is the fate of all who turn from God, you are here because God hates you." This lady, who was a suspected witch, supposedly summoned the Jersey Devil and he killed her. Afterwards JD was caught and chained up and cast into the Well.

The Search for the Jersey Devil: Footprints

by Chris Chaos

Trifid

Trifid (Split into 3 parts)...or Drake's feet, 3 toes. A popular carving technique for the legs of tables or chairs. Back in 1941 a strange footprint was found in Batsto, New Jersey and many suspected that is was from the Jersey Devil. A cast was promptly made and then a wooden imprint was made of it. Currently this wooden imprint resides at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in Medford, New Jersey. Back in November of 2013 the Courier Post did a front page story with me concerning my Jersey Devil documentary they photographed me holding it in the photo shoot.
Chris Chaos holding the wooden print

Back in 1941 a strange footprint was found in Batsto, New Jersey and many suspected that is was from the Jersey Devil. A cast was promptly made and then a wooden imprint was produced from it. Currently this wooden imprint resides at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in Medford, New Jersey. Back in November of 2013 the Courier Post did a front page story with me concerning my Jersey Devil documentary, they photographed me holding it in the photo shoot.

One thing that was inconsistent to me was that by popular accounts most witnesses stated that the Jersey Devil had cloven hooves..like a goat, or the Devil Himself. The wooden imprint is more that of a dragon, or some sort of three toed lizard. There are not all that many three toed animals that are that large: Capybara, rhinoceroses, crow, turkey and the Emu are a few. Many dinosaur era birds had 3 toes with a 4th toe backwards turned that assisted them with gripping tree branches.

Above: Heron footprints next to average sized human foot.

Starting around 1948 there was a hoaxer running around the US (and world) leaving fake 3 toed impressions and he was dubbed “Old Three Toes”. He claimed that the prints were that of a large penguin and tormented Florida with these false prints. There were several pics available with this hoaxer wearing his self made boots that left the 3 toed impressions. They curiously resemble (although a bit larger) the ones supposedly left by the Jersey Devil in Batsto...for more information please check out the following link:
Old Three Toes

There are many explanations that could shed light on the origin of this wooden footprint cast: A real animal that was mentioned above, a hoax, an attempt for tourism and publicity...or the actual Jersey Devil. Be sure to let us know what you think.
